Happy Holidays!

Hey, just wishing everyone a Happy Chrismahannukwaanzakuh! Oh, and Boxing Day, but that's only for those odd "Canadians" we've heard so much about. Goofy folk, those northerners...anyways, see you all at Camp January 3rd-12th!

T-Shirt Design

Been a while...

Holy cow, I've been slacking...anyways, let me update here...

This Thanksgiving the Ski Team wandered up into the miracle that is America's Hat: Canada. We went up there to check out the men's Worldcup downhill and super G races at gorgeous Lake Louise. Cheering Bode, Didier Cuche, Christof Innerhofer, and Der Hermannator was hard work, but the team did it with gusto! We just got back and we're already planning for next year!

Below are a few pics from the action...

Meeting Movie Mania

Ladies and Gentlemen (and I use those terms loosely),
Here's the breakdown of the meeting from Thursday night:
  • The TGR movie premier for us is coming up FAST. It's still slated for Wednesday, November 5th at 7 and 9 pm in the SUB Ballroom. We've got lots of stuff to do that night, so try to block your schedule out from around 6pm to 11 or so. Anyways, we'll need to help with setup and ticket sales and other misc. stuff. I'd really really REALLY encourage all of you to be there as it's one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. There's an after-party at the Coeur d'Alene Brewery Alehouse here in Moscow (open to all ages) where the ticket stubs can be redeemed for discounts, too.
  • I passed out posters to hang around campus. I'll have more printed up this weekend so if you can help me out with the hanging/display of them shoot me an email or whatever with when you're free. We'll also try to get some mailbox sized ones to throw in the Greek and Dorm mailboxes. I want to be able to go anywhere on campus and see a flier for the movie. Remember: the more people at the movie, the better our revenue, and the less fundraising we'll have to do later. One huge selling point is that every ticket to the movie (or maybe it's the first 200...I'm not sure) gets a day pass to Silver Mountain and the first 75 to each show get another one to Lookout. If you're telling people about the show let them know that; it's a great way to get people out there.
  • We've got a table at the Commons to sell tickets on November 4th and 5th from 10:20ish to 1:30. Please help out when you can. There will be copious amounts of AMP'D there to hand out/consume.
  • We'll have a Ski Team only premier of the movie this coming Wednesday at our intrepid Jess Stewart's residence. I'm bringing speakers and a projector, but you're on your own for food/drinks for the show. The exception is that I'll have lotsa AMP'D energy drink for our consumption again. The movie is 1 hour and 6 minutes long and we would like to start around 8-8:30ish that night so show up around then. Jess' place is at 1153 West A St. apartment #11. It's the complex behind Tri-State and can be found (for the directionally challenged) at http://maps.google.com/maps?q=1153+West+A+St.+Moscow,+ID&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=title. Give me a call at 406-698-1189 if you still can't find it.
  • USCSA and USSA information is still due. The appropriate information and links can be found on our blog at http://www.uiskiteam.blogspot.com/
  • CANADA TRIP: We have (maybe) 1-3 seats left. Get $75 to one of the officers to reserve your slot. Also, Lake Louise will be open at this time, so if you want to ski you're welcome to, but remember that tickets are probably around $70 for a full-day pass.
I think that's everything...well, hope it is.

First Meeting

Okay, it's now been set: the first Ski Team meeting of the year is at 8:00 pm on 9/11/08. Location hasn't been nailed down quite yet, but you'll hear about it when it is. We're going to talk about things like going to Canada for a men's World Cup race, traveling around the NW for our 4 competitions, and our January ski camp.

Secondly, dryland training is kicking off this next week on Tuesday. Workouts will meet at the east entrance of the Kibbie dome at 5:30 pm Monday-Thursday.

Mountain bike rides on Moscow Mountain will resume next Sunday at 11:00 am. Meet at Mountain View Park and we'll carpool from there up to the hill.

October 12 we are booked to help out with some trail maintenance on Moscow Mountain. This is a way for us to give a little back to our community and a good reason to hang out and eat at the barbeque we'll have afterwords. This is an event with WSU's ski team, too. More information will come out as the day draws near.

Also, RAFTING!

Great Success!

Palousafest was a huge hit yesterday, got lots of new names to add to the email list. But as an update to anyone reading this, the bike ride today is at 11:30 and NOT 2:00. Have a good week at school!

School's Here :(

So school starts this next week, which means it's back to the daily grind. However, it also means that we're starting up the Ski Team weekly entertainment. Namely, our Sunday mountain bike rides on Moscow Mountain and (soon enough) dryland training.

This weekend, we've got 2 things going on. First, Saturday from 5:00 till 7:00 (I think...) is Palousafest on the Tower lawn. Come down and say "hey" while we chat with all the new and returning students, 'cuz I'd love some company. Then Sunday meet at Mountain View park at 2pm for the bike ride. We'll carpool from there to the trails. Remember water and a helmet!

That's it for now, enjoy the last week of summer!

Updating for the sake of updating

So, it's almost August which means it's almost school which means it's getting closer and closer to skiing season. Here's what we've been working on the last month:
- We've got a table at Palousafest on the Saturday before school starts; perfect for new and returning Ski Teamers to get in the groove.
- For our movie premier this year, we've got set up something truly epic. More to come sometime later, but for now, just know that we're an 'official' stop on the film's tour...

Snow Doldrums

Seeing as it's summer, there's not much going on for our team, but to stave off the blues until the school year starts up again, here's something to satiate our snow and team cravings.

Here's El Presidente Cam skiing at Silver during our cancelled GS race.

This one's a pretty sweet shot of our freeskiing at Brundage right before our Regionals.

This shot is of Mt. Hood while we were headed to Ski Bowl for a slalom.

Above is Katie and Mike watching the Women's World Cup race at Panorama, BC.

Finally, here's Tyler at our opening race at Mt. Spokane.

With most of the same team returning next year, it's shaping up to be one of the best in the University of Idaho's history. Can't wait!

Welcome!

This is the official home of the University of Idaho Ski Team! On this blog we'll talk about our exploits, whether they're races all around the Northwest or just some post-meeting notes. Check back regularly, as we'll get up some pictures and links to videos of our past seasons.
